In the Martian mines, miners frequently settled grudges the old way, with the mine elevators doubling as cages for their pit fights. Sixteen combatants honored this tradition Saturday night at Mission Critical.
Here are a few snaps of the final rounds.
It came down to Matthew's Swiss Guard HMG (who unbelieve-ably defeated Neko Oyama, Saito Togan and Senior Massacre) to face Jon's Kiel-Saan (which went through a Jaguar, Nahab, and Hussein Al-Djabel). The final round was brief, with the Kiel-Saan quickly dispatching the Swiss Guard. Congrats Jon! Well fought Matt!
Here were the rules we used:
- Starting Wounds equal to Physique value
- Crits cause D20 damage (roll ARM or BTS against each point of damage separately)
- For each additional WND value over 1, count 1 critical as a normal hit instead
- No Lt, Tactical Sense, Impetuous orders, or Command tokens. (just tit for tat back and forth)
- Rerolls available for certain event achievements prior and each $5 ticket purchased for the Charity Raffle (could buy as you go!)
We did have some restrictions:
- No STR (no blood)
- No monofilament or Adhesive ammo (no sport)
- 10 point model minimum (no risk)
E/M was allowed which did shut down some HI.
Consequences:
A model that was killed could not be used in Sunday's games. A model with less than half wounds could voluntarily yield by leaving the elevator. (Which did happen at least once, as Jon's Kiel-Saan let Mark's Nahab flee once it became clear his +6 BTS Metachemistry roll would shut him down!)

FINAL RESULTS
Big thanks to all who attended and congrats to our winners!
The Corporate forces wavered in Round 4 but rallied in Round 5 for a resounding victory!
The war was won by Joel Vaughan, Jonas Gabel, Tyler Peterson, Andrew Pangburn, Clayton Beese, Nathan Vik, Theodore Krenke, Jamie Kuddle, Jordan Heckman, Julian Dwight, Matt Loftus, Jason Lester, and Edwin Perez. Nice work lads!
The award for Best Team went to RajCorp. Way to go Jamie Kuddle, Jordan Heckman, Julian Dwight, and Matt Loftus!
The award for Best Performance went to Julian Dwight. Congrats!
The award for Worst Performance went to Jon Witthuhn (along with that coveted complete set of Total Recall trading cards.) Although Jon did redeem himself by winning the Saturday Night Cage Fight!
The Best Army award went to Will Thompson! That was some sweetness, my man!
This event is not really about the numbers but I do have some breakdowns to peruse for bragging rights purposes. Enjoy!

CHARITY RAFFLE
Finally, the charity!
I've mentioned working a charity into our annual shenanigans in prior alerts and that is moving forward this year!
Each year, we will pick a charity that is (perhaps tenuously) tied to the event's theme.
On Mars, terraforming is still in its infancy. The majority of the planet is an airless, low pressure waste.
Whoever controls the air, controls life. It is institutions like RajCorp that control the air, often skimping on crucial maintenance or intentionally strangling supply to exert influence over hapless citizens ("Damnit Verhoeven! Give these people air!")
It is organizations like the Environmental Defense Fund that are there, working for everyday Martians, demanding clean air standards and closing loopholes. We will be donating all Charity Raffle funds to that organization this year. (I will screenshot the final payment after the event.)
So how does this Charity Raffle work? If you've been to Paca, you probably know the gist of it but here we go:
All players will get a ticket to the Charity Raffle with their entry.
You will be able to purchase more tickets at 5 bucks a pop.
Every time your name gets called, you head up and grab a goodie.
What will be in the Charity Raffle? Well, that is how we will be giving away that entire table of Martian terrain and corresponding Mars mat. If you lack the storage capacity for such a wonder, we will have the RajCorp Compliance center painted by Bubbles last year in there, a couple other terrain goodies, an army box, painted models and more! Those last two extremely ggenerous donations came from players Rob and Ryan (thanks dudes!), and I hope if you have not helped out with the event in some way already, that you will consider packing up some models or terrain you don't need to add to it. The more goodies in the pot, the more everyone will be enticed to drop their hard earned sheckles on a good cause!
But wait, there's more! I will have a separate little side raffle going from the complete Jub Jub and Pig Pig symbiomate tribes many of you encountered on the Rowanoco last year! This Fireteam: Tribe includes six feral symbiomates in each group. That is four spearbraves and two hunters (one with short bow and one with blowpipe.) The Jub Jubs prefer blue warpaint and long thrusting spears. The Pig Pigs prefer pink warpaint and short stabbing spears.
This is a side raffle with its own tickets as I will be posting it out on the WGC group and anywhere else to see if we can get some more donations. If you know somebody who might want these little buggers, have them send a paypal payment to wiscohorndog@gmail.com (in $5 increments) with either Jub Jub or Pig Pig in the message line (whichever tribe they prefer to win.) We will draw two winners. The first pull gets their tribe and the second gets the other.
Jub Jub (Blue)
Pig Pig (Pink)

HOME STRETCH
Hello lads!
We're getting to the home stretch here so it's time to kick off the last few alerts. First off, thank you to those who have offered to bring tables!
We are still looking for another 1 or 2 just to cover our bases and not rely too much on any one individual or group in case of unforeseen circumstances.
I'm looking towards the MN boys, who's table offerings have been a little light compared to their number. Another Strompost Alpha in that red/cream would round out our battlegrounds quite nicely! Can any of you get your mitts on such a table? (No mat necessary)
I do have one other request and that is Network Node tokens! Some folks may have hand crafted their own already. Is anyone willing to make special Network Node tokens for everyone to use? Please let me know. I
f it's not clear, I am keeping a list of all the folks helping out with the event and they absolutely get special treatment! (Typically expressed as comradely noogies but you never know what these guys might get away with!)
If you are distressed that you haven't had a chance to help out yet, don't panic! Everyone will have a shot with the Charity Raffle, which I will elaborate on in the next alert.
Lastly, we do have a couple spots yet. At this point I will consider folks on a ringer basis. If you have a bud who maybe isn't the best player or isn't into tournaments but might tag along if they got in freebs, so if you can wrangle them in. If the event is uneven, I will drop them in. If the event is even, they can act as one of my enforcers when I declare martian law.
Lastly lastly, if you didn't see on WGC, I posted one of this year's prizes. One of you boners gets to take this home!

TABLES and TERRAIN
Greetings my weary warriors!
I don't believe I've indicated it previously, but I do actually need some tables from you folks to pull this sucker off!
8 hearty tables will come from me (Venusville and The Mines), 4 will be a combination of my stuff and your stuff (Ansari Station), and that leaves 4 which are completely your stuff (RajCorp R&D).
If you can bring a table or two, please drop me a line at wiscohorndog@gmail.com! I would like a little description of what you have (ex. Strompost Alpha on a CyberPunk City 1 FLG mat.)
Obviously this could be a little complicated depending how you've sourced your masterpiece(s), so I'd appreciate a pic if you feel you can't convey it in words or links (one of those hidden deployment pics just hanging out on your phone would work!)
Ideally then, I could pick the tables that would best match what we're going for down at Ivanov Crater.
As terrain goes, the Battleground descriptions have been tweaked a bit.
https://www.missioncriticalinfinity.com/2019/01/2019-battlegrounds.html
Check it out and make sure you get to the bottom for the most pertinent bits.
And just to confirm, Children of the Red Planet does apply to Joel's Dazers!
Not too late to order those rusty pigment powders to get your forces battle ready!

PATCHES
Regarding patches, I am working on a general Mission Critical 2019 patch for everyone. I am not making Team specific patches, so if you were to fancy that, you'd have to seize the initiative (and it sounds like many of you already have!) I see the original icons were uploaded with poor resolution, so this post will contain larger, high resolution versions of all the original icons, plus, now that the Mercs and Wildcards have been sorted, I've added customized icons for them as well. Enjoy!
